The History of Master of Management
Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) was founded by the founding fathers of Indonesia, chaired by Dr. Mohammad Hatta (the first Vice President of Indonesia) in Jakarta on July 8th, 1945. UII was the first national university established by the Indonesian national leaders. UII moved to Yogyakarta since 1946 because of the situation in post-independence of Indonesia together with the movement of Indonesia capital city from Jakarta to Yogyakarta at the same year.
At the end of 1947, UII had four faculties consist of Faculty of Religion; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Education; and Faculty of Economics. Currently, FE UII has 3 departments (Management, Accounting, and Economics) with 10 degree programs consist of 3 diploma programs, 3 bachelor (undergraduate) programs, 3 master programs, and 1 doctoral program.
Master of Management, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia (henceforth MM FE UII) is one of the pioneers in Master of Management program in Indonesia. It is the oldest MM program in Yogyakarta and Central Java for private universities. MM FE UII was established in 1993 with the certificate of establishment of study program by Director of Private Universities, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No.47/D/0/1993. Since 2000, MM FE UII has been obtaining an excellent rating “A” (excellent) based on national accreditation conducted by The National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN PT).
MM FE UII is established to provide high quality education through mastering of knowledge and strengthening managerial skill in order to prepare the students to be leaders of the future. There have been more than 1,700 alumni pursue career either as professionals or entrepreneurs across Indonesia. Currently, the total number of enrolled students is 334 and it tended to increase for the last five years.
